Malaysia has started the second phase of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) where many businesses are granted permission from the government to resume businesses and allowed dine-ins under the strict Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). While one of the rules is that Malaysians must record down their names and contact details before entering the business premises.

A simple order like this, too, is difficult for Malaysians to follow.

As reported in Sin Chew Daily, the Ministry of Defence, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, urged Malaysians to write down their REAL names and contact details, instead of nicknames like 'Superman' or 'Batman' and fake contact details. The government set this rule with the purpose of tracking down people in contact if COVID-19 positive cases were to happen.

He understands that many people refused to disclose their personal information as they fear that their information might be misused.

"If an emergency happened, where would the government find you under the name ‘Superman’?" he expressed his concern.

"We have decided that we only need your name and contact detail. This is so that if COVID-19 cases occur, we can identify those close contacts for them to be tested. You don't have to provide your IC number and address, hence, you don't have to worry about your personal information being misused," he explained.
