A recent video that went viral on TikTok (@gerawrr.a) has captured the attention and hearts of netizens after showing an unexpected yet amusing encounter with a cat in a lift, believed to be inside an apartment complex.

The video, which has since garnered thousands of views, features a white cat with black spots seemingly navigating the building as though it knew exactly where it was headed.

The person who uploaded the video initially assumed the cat had wandered into the lift out of curiosity. "Thought it just randomly entered the lift. Turns out, no. It also wants to go home," they captioned.

According to the uploader, the cat briefly stepped out of the lift on the ground floor but quickly came back in. Sensing that the feline may have been trying to get home, the individual decided to press the button for the first floor.

However, once they arrived at the first floor, the cat exited the lift, paused, and then promptly stepped back in as if realising it wasn't at the right floor yet. "This time, when we went to the first floor, it came out first, then went back in. It was like, this is different, this isn't (the right floor)," the person explained.

To add to the charm, the cat even meowed at the person, almost as if it was trying to communicate something.

Eventually, the individual pressed the button for the second floor. This time, the cat confidently stepped out and didn't return, seemingly having reached its intended destination.

The video left many social media users entertained, with some joking that the cat might be more intelligent than it looks. Others humorously suggested that the feline might be a long-time resident who's figured out the lift system better than most newcomers.

Whether lost or simply independent, the clever kitty gave viewers a good laugh and a little reminder that animals can surprise us in the most unexpected ways.
