Malaysia's Nor Farah Ain Abdullah Becomes World's No. 1 Lawn Bowler

Malaysia's lawn bowl sensation, Nor Farah Ain Abdullah, has achieved a historic milestone by securing the world No. 1 ranking, marking a significant moment in the nation's sporting history.

According to the latest world rankings released today, 5 March, by the World Bowls Series, the 24-year-old athlete sits atop the women's rankings with an impressive 723 points. She surpasses Scotland's Julie Forrest, who holds second place with 683 points, and Australia's Kelsey Cottrell, who ranks third with 676 points.


Farah Ain's journey to the pinnacle of the sport was cemented by her stunning victory at the 2024 World Indoor Bowling Championships held in Guernsey, Channel Islands, last April. She clinched the gold medal in the women's singles event with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Maltas Connie Rixon in the final.


In addition to her singles triumph, Farah Ain also demonstrated her versatility in the sport by securing a bronze medal in the mixed pairs event alongside her teammate, Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple.


Her remarkable achievements have not gone unnoticed, earning praise from Malaysias Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh. The minister personally met with Farah Ain in May last year to congratulate her on her success.

Farah Ain's rise to the top is a testament to her hard work and resilience, inspiring young athletes across Malaysia to pursue excellence in sports. With her current form, she is expected to continue making waves in the lawn bowls arena and bring more glory to the nation.
