In a heart-pounding incident that took place on Tuesday afternoon in Kampung Pinosuk, Kundasang, six school students found themselves in a precarious situation when a man attempted to steal the car they were in. The incident unfolded in front of a convenience store, causing panic among the young passengers.
Around 5 o'clock in the evening, the situation took a turn for the worse when the man tried to make off with the vehicle. However, quick action by both the public and the police led to the safe rescue of the terrified students.
According to Ranau District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Simiun Lomudin, they received a report about the incident involving a Proton Persona vehicle. The man allegedly attempted to steal the car while six school students were inside.
The suspect was apprehended successfully, and the incident was captured on video, which later went viral on social media. Deputy Superintendent Simiun Lomudin confirmed that the police were aware of the video and had received additional information about the incident.

The police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information they may have to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Ranau District Police Headquarters to aid in the ongoing investigation.
