Netflix's animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters is making waves and its hit song Golden is leading the charge.
In the movie, the K-Pop girl group Huntr/x uses music to fight demons. During a powerful scene, they perform Golden while trying to seal a magical barrier. But just as they're about to succeed, its revealed that their lead singer, Rumi, is part demon herself.
Since the film's release on June 20, Golden has become a breakout hit:
- Most-streamed song from the soundtrack globally
- Tied for highest-charting song by a female K-Pop group on U.S. Spotify (No. 3)
- Debuted at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100
- 2000% increase in streams on Apple Music since release
- Part of a three-track single (original, instrumental, a cappella) released July 4 by Republic Records
The soundtrack debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, the highest for any 2025 film so far. Meanwhile, the movie itself has been a global hit, with over 33 million views in two weeks and reaching No. 1 in 33 countries.
And, based on reports, Golden will be submitted by Netflix for awards consideration!
An animated film and a fictional K-Pop girl group with a very real award? Who would've thought.
