Homegrown AI App KELAS SEKEJAP Aims To Redefine English Learning

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 January 2026 — Kelas Sekejap, a Malaysian-built, AI-powered English learning platform, has officially launched with a focus on one core challenge in language education: many learners understand English but lack confidence in speaking it.

The platform is supported by public figures Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan, who highlighted the importance of confidence-based learning and safe practice environments in a Keluar Sekejap podcast episode released on 26 January.

Rather than focusing on vocabulary lists, grammar drills, or typed exercises, Kelas Sekejap is built around a Learn by Talking model, where users practise English through real conversations. The platform’s design centres on speaking as the primary learning method, treating conversation itself as the core learning engine.

“We built this app using AI as a tool to support people in becoming more confident English speakers,” said Khairy Jamaluddin. “It is not about replacing teachers or traditional learning, but about helping people practise speaking in a way that feels safe, natural, and accessible.”

Kelas Sekejap was co-founded by Isaac Tan Heng Wai, former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SUPA (Supahands), a Southeast Asian AI data infrastructure company acquired by TDCX Group. Isaac brings deep experience in building large-scale, human-centred AI systems, with a strong focus on ethical, purpose-driven AI for learning, accessibility, and social impact.

The system uses AI to personalise learning based on each user’s proficiency level, interests, and practice history, dynamically adapting lesson difficulty and content. This allows learners to engage with English at their own pace and level, regardless of age, background, or starting ability.

“This is purpose-driven AI,” said Shahril Hamdan. “We are using technology to make learning easier and more inclusive, so anyone, at any level of proficiency, can use it to build real confidence in speaking English.”

Unlike open-ended AI chat tools, Kelas Sekejap is purpose-built for language learning. It offers structured, guided prompts, familiar real-life contexts, and repeatable practice flows that remove the pressure of “not knowing what to say.” Users can retry freely without judgment or penalty, supporting confidence-building through repetition and low-pressure exposure.

Kelas Sekejap functions as a conversation practice platform that supports fluency development through:

Real-time AI-guided conversations
Personalised learning scenarios
Structured feedback and improvement guidance
Gamified learning systems with streaks, XP, and leaderboards
Pronunciation coaching and correction

The platform adopts a purpose-driven AI model, positioning technology as a support system for learning rather than a replacement for teachers, institutions, or human-led education.

Kelas Sekejap is now available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
