A TikTok video capturing a young boy climbing and lying on a metal handrail inside a moving KTM train has gone viral, sparking alarm among viewers over the apparent lack of supervision.

The video, posted by user @liyaa04, shows the boy balancing his body on a pole meant for standing passengers to hold on to. What's more concerning is that no adult seems to be watching over him, despite the obvious risks.
According to WeirdKaya, the TikTok user who filmed the incident shared what happened that night. She was traveling on the KTM train from Sungai Petani to Butterworth on July 17, with the journey starting around 8.35pm and ending at 10.00pm.
According to her, the boy barefoot and full of energy was running up and down the coach for most of the ride. An elderly woman nearby mentioned that the child appeared to be alone, without any visible parent or guardian.
Concerned for the boys safety, the TikTok user got up to look around for someone who might be responsible for him, but no one seemed to fit the role. The boy continued to behave recklessly, showing no sign of fear or awareness of the danger he was putting himself in.
Eventually, a man and a younger girl joined the cabin and sat nearby. Shortly after, the boy was seen climbing up the handrail and lying on it the exact moment that shocked viewers on TikTok.
The situation took a more troubling turn when the train stopped at a station. Just as the doors were closing, the boy playfully slipped his hand between them before quickly pulling it back out. He then reached toward the emergency button near the door, a move that could have triggered an unnecessary emergency stop.
The OP attempted to find a KTM staff member to report the issue, but no personnel were in sight. Left with no other choice, she approached the man seated nearby and asked if the boy was his son. She informed him about the child's risky behavior and asked that he be stopped from pressing the emergency button.
To her shock, the man responded with indifference and showed no intention of intervening. Other passengers also attempted to caution the boy, but he ignored them and continued his antics. Despite repeated warnings, he returned to the handrail and lay down on it again.
As more passengers began filming the scene, the OP said she couldn't shake off a feeling of dread. "Nothing happened, thankfully, but it could've gone very wrong. If anything bad had happened, the child would've been the one to suffer most. I know how painful it is when a bone breaks," she shared.
She added that she didn't feel safe confronting the man again, especially given his lack of response. When asked whether the individuals involved were locals or foreigners, she confirmed that both the man and the child were Malaysian.
The incident has since prompted a wave of concern from netizens, many of whom questioned KTMs onboard safety monitoring and called for stricter supervision of minors during public transportation rides.
