In the most recent update from the Malaysian government, a decision has been made to mobilise the army in order to further enforce the Movement Control Order that was put into effect on 18th March 2020 (Wednesday).

As reported by Free Malaysia Today and The Malaysian Insight, this is to ensure that Malaysians remain at home during the period.

“We’re confident that with help from the army, the MCO will be implemented better. And we hope the people will continue to comply with the government’s instructions,” said Minister of Defence, Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Malaysian army will be mobilised on Sunday (22nd March 2020). This decision is made because many Malaysians were still seen flouting orders to stay at home and avoid mass gatherings, despite strict rules specifying that they remain indoors unless absolutely necessary.
