A distressing social media post by Facebook user Hussen Zulkarai has brought to light a heart-wrenching situation involving two underage siblings who have been compelled to sacrifice their education for the sake of earning a meager income. Wafiq and Aklan, standing outside Maybank branches in Setapak and Gombak, were found selling goods under the instruction of their father. Hussen alleges that their father is taking advantage of these vulnerable siblings, forcing them to skip school to generate money for him. In an impassioned Facebook video, Hussen seeks support from the community and authorities to address this critical issue.

The Unfortunate Reality:

Hussen's encounter with Wafiq and Aklan revealed a troubling reality. These siblings have been diligently selling their products outside Maybank branches since last year. Their father drops them off at 11AM and leaves them there until 11PM, with only RM10 per day allocated for their meals. This dire situation exposes the extent of their sacrifice and the desperation that drives them to spend long hours outside the bank.

Education Denied:

Hussen's concern deepened upon discovering that Wafiq and Aklan frequently skip school, which was confirmed by their teachers. This revelation exposes the grave injustice of depriving these young individuals of their right to education for the sake of their survival. Despite Hussen's attempts to seek assistance from the Department of Social Welfare (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat), his pleas have gone unanswered. As a last resort, Hussen created the video to raise awareness and urge action.

You can watch Hussen's full video below, where he narrates to full extent the dire situation the two siblings are currently in:

Community Support and Hope:

The story of Wafiq and Aklan has garnered sympathy from Malaysians, who are calling for authorities to intervene and provide these siblings with the opportunity to resume their education and experience a normal teenage life. The viral video has ignited a compassionate response, as the community seeks to uplift these children from their current circumstances and offer them a brighter future.

Time for Action:

Hussen's heartfelt video serves as a compelling call to action. It urges concerned citizens, local authorities, and social welfare organizations to unite and extend support to Wafiq and Aklan. Providing them with the necessary resources, counseling, and educational opportunities is crucial to breaking the cycle of exploitation and offering them a chance to thrive.

Conclusion:

The plight of Wafiq and Aklan highlights the harsh reality faced by underprivileged children who are forced to prioritize survival over education. It is imperative for society to address these systemic issues and ensure that every child has the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
