Then again last thing we want to do is to spend so much energy budgeting. Well you don’t have to. Here are few tips on how to save your money efficiently and get better control of your money.

1) Drop change into a jar

This is one of those common and simple way to save money. If you have loose change in your wallet/purse, instead of spending all of it drop them in a jar.

Once your jar is full, bring them to the back and deposit!

You’d be surprise of how much you can get!

2) Take up and easy side job

Get a simple job so you won’t be stressed out because you’re only doing this to get extra cash in your pocket. Get somewhere near so you won’t have travel far.

Easy side jobs can be such as blogging as you don't even have to go out of your house, you can sit in your bed with hot chocolate at the side and write. You can also walk pets for your neighbor in your free time. Do you ever need to clear out your stuff? well sell them! Therefor you make space for yourself and get money for it!

3) Stick to your grocery list

Make sure you stick to your grocery list and loose the temptation to buy anything unnecessary. Although, one thing you should NOT do is shop while you’re in hunger. That feeling will manipulate you to buy things you don’t even need. Shop only once a week as people tend to spend more if your stop at the store every day or several times a week. Make sure to check your prices and look for discounts.

4) Track your spending’s

Download applications to help you track your spending’s that means every coffee, newspaper and the little snacks you buy. Organize those purchase by categories such as fuel, groceries, clothes and anything general. This may help you budget your spending’s.

Applications such as: Spending Tracker, Mint

5) RM5 save

One effective way is to always pocket a RM5 note every time you get it but you have to be careful not to spend it. Keep it somewhere you can’t reach and use it in an emergency. You’d be surprised how much you saved after a month or two.

6) Save following the dates

For the 1st date of every month you save RM1, on the 2nd date you save RM2 and till the 30th you take out RM30 from your purse.

In a month you would save RM496!

7) Eat at home

Instead of going out every night for dinner, cook a meal yourself. Put those groceries to use. You’ll be shock to see how much you save from spending it on lunch and dinner.

8) Limit the money you bring out

When you go out, limit the amount of money you bring out. That way you wouldn’t feel the need to spend so freely because you have so much money in your pocket. You would have to spend it wisely to survive a day out.

9) Sell items you don’t need

What do you use with your old clothes and items?

Why not sell them?

Sell those clothes you have not used in a while but don’t sell them too high or else no one will but them. Sell them on applications like Carousells, eBay, 11street etc.

10) 30 days rule

When you want to buy things you’re on the fence about, use the 30 days rule. Before purchasing an item, you wait 30 days to decide on it. Often, after a month pass by, you find yourself having second thoughts of the item you wanted to get. That second thought means you realise you don’t really need them anymore. If you still want to get it after a month means you really wanted the item. Waiting a while can give you a better perspective on whether it’s truly worth the money.

Make sure you're committed to these rules, if not it would not work. Be strong. Good luck!
