A Malaysian Royal Air Force marshaller has taken the internet by storm after a video of his unique directing style went viral on TikTok. But this wasn't your average marshalling session; the man turned the runway into a performance stage, blending military precision with the fluid movements of silat, Malaysia's traditional martial art.
The video, shared by TikTok user @wankhairunisham, features the marshaller confidently guiding a fighter jet on the tarmac. What caught viewers' attention, however, wasn't just his skill; it was his flair. Ditching standard hand signals, he incorporated stylized silat moves, unexpected somersaults, and a final salute.
The clip quickly gained traction, amassing more than 380k views. Viewers were thoroughly entertained by the marshall's dramatic flair, with many flooding the comments to applaud his sense of humour and originality.
In a follow-up video, the marshaller turned up the theatrics. He pretended to use invisible superpowers to "pull" the aircraft, mimicked tactical SWAT movements, and even whipped out playful finger guns, all while flawlessly performing his actual duties.
Social media users couldn't get enough of the marshall's antics, with comments ranging from pure laughter to admiration for how he brought joy to an otherwise routine task.
It's not every day you see military discipline fused with martial arts and comedy, but this marshaller has clearly shown that there's room for personality, even on the runway.
