A 14-year-old boy in Hunan, China, identified as Liu, has suffered kidney damage following a severe punishment at his school. Liu's ordeal began on September 12th when he was reprimanded by his teacher, Mr. Tao, for talking in class. This incident took place at Quantang High School in the Changsha district of Jingzhou City, Ningxiang, in the Hunan province.

As part of his punishment, Liu was forced to perform a staggering 200 squats, a physically demanding exercise that left him in great discomfort. Shortly after, he also underwent a punishing running session around the school premises. It's reported that Liu experienced muscle pain and had difficulty walking after completing the grueling squats, and his urine even changed color to a tea-like hue.

Worryingly, two days later, Liu's condition showed no improvement. Despite his request for sick leave, his teacher, Mr. Wen, compelled him to participate in further running exercises. Tragically, Liu collapsed after completing just six laps. Concerned for his well-being, the school contacted his mother, who rushed to pick him up.

Upon closer examination, Liu's mother discovered blood in his urine, a deeply distressing sign of internal damage. Swiftly, she transported him to the People's Hospital of Ningxiang for urgent medical attention. Medical assessments revealed the severity of Liu's condition, and he was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Doctors emphasized the critical nature of his situation, with the risk of kidney failure looming if treatment was delayed.

Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that Liu had developed rhabdomyolysis, a condition characterized by muscle injury. Medical experts stressed that Liu could have faced a fatal outcome if he hadn't received  medical intervention in time.

Remarkably, Liu endured a week-long stay in the ICU, battling the effects of his punishment. Meanwhile, authorities took action against those responsible for this tragic incident. The Education Bureau of Ningxiang City issued a formal apology to Liu's family. Furthermore, they terminated the teacher involved and assured Liu's family that they would cover all his medical expenses.

Additionally, the school principal and other teachers implicated in this incident have been suspended from their duties.
