M'sian Woman Loses Over RM10K After Accepting Fake Zalora Part Time Job Offer In Yet Another Job Scam Case

16-Jun-2023
By Ayunie

In a recent Twitter confession, an individual shared her heartbreaking experience of falling victim to a job scam that purportedly impersonated popular shopping platform Zalora. According to her account, she was initially approached via WhatsApp with an enticing offer to join a part-time job that involved purchasing items through Zalora to boost sales. The scammers promised her refunds and a 20% commission on the transactions.

Eager to seize the opportunity, she joined a WhatsApp group along with other participants. However, she refrained from taking any action until she noticed a new member in the group who claimed to have received refunds and commissions after completing more than four transactions. Tempted by this success story, she decided to follow suit and began making purchases through Zalora.

Over time, she spent over RM10,000 on various items but encountered a concerning lack of responses from the individuals in charge of the supposed job. Distressed and confused, she soon realized that she had fallen victim to a scam.

Job scams like these often prey on individuals looking for part-time employment or extra income opportunities. The scammers impersonate reputable companies, in this case, Zalora, to gain trust and legitimacy. They exploit the desire for financial gain by promising rewards and benefits that seem lucrative on the surface.

It is important for individuals to exercise caution when encountering such job offers, especially when they involve making purchases or providing personal information. Legitimate companies do not typically require job applicants to make purchases as part of their job responsibilities.
