As disclosed by the Health Director-General, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have worked together and drafted the guidelines of reopening schools, that included students are not allowed to dine-in in the canteen. They will be having their meals in the classroom while social distancing.

He added that students could purchase meals at the canteen and return to their classrooms to eat, however, they must maintain social distancing while doing so.

He further disclosed that they would update the guidelines from time to time.

Meanwhile, in a separate report, Senator Dr. Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, Minister of Education revealed that the recess time would be conducted into a few sessions. This is to avoid too many students to gather together during recess time. He further disclosed that teachers will be measuring all students' body temperatures. If any of the students showed symptoms of COVID-19, the authority will be taking appropriate action.

Other than that, tables in every classroom are 1-meter apart. Students will be arranged in different classes if the class has too many students.

Prioritizing Form 5 and 6 Exam Candidates

Dr. Noor Hisham mentioned that exam candidates of Form 5 and 6 would be prioritized for school reopening. The authority would be announcing the date of reopening school 2 weeks beforehand, which the date has yet to be confirmed currently.

He has confidence that the drafted guidelines would help in curbing the spread of the virus.

Social Distancing Is The Best Vaccine For Now

Dr. Noor Hisham pointed out that according to foreign research, the risk of infecting the virus would be reduced by 60% if everyone maintains social distancing. Hence, social distancing is the best vaccine for now as the vaccine for COVID-19 has yet to be found.

Not only maintaining social distancing for 1 meter, it would be best if it is more than 1 meter and also, avoid physical contact, wear a face mask, wash your hands with soap and avoid any confined space.
