In a bizarre and dangerous incident, a 30-year-old Singaporean man, Shiva Gandas, was sentenced to three years, seven months, and eight weeks in prison for setting his own car on fire after forgetting the smart key. The incident occurred on January 31, 2023, and has left many stunned by the sheer audacity of Gandas' actions.

According to court documents, Gandas had forgotten to bring the smart key needed to unlock and start his Mercedes-Benz. Instead of turning back to retrieve the key or calling for assistance, Gandas decided to use a lighter to light the ignition switch, an act he attempted to imitate from the Marvel Comics character 'Ghost Rider'.

The flames quickly spread, engulfing the plastic surrounding the ignition switch and causing thick pillars of smoke to pour out of the car. The blaze caught the attention of nearby residents, who tried to put out the fire but were rejected by Gandas. Eventually, security guards were called, and Gandas fled the scene, leaving them to deal with the aftermath.

A report was lodged with the police, and an investigation revealed that Gandas had been under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the incident. Further investigation revealed that Gandas had a history of criminal behavior, including a hit-and-run accident and threatening a girl with a weapon.

Gandas was arrested and charged with several offenses, including mischief, arson, and violating the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Road Traffic Act. He pleaded guilty to nine charges and was sentenced to three years, seven months, and eight weeks in prison, as well as nine cane strokes and a S$4,800 (RM16,600) fine. He was also banned from holding any level of driver's license for two years.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless behavior and the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions. It also highlights the devastating consequences that can result from making poor decisions under the influence of drugs or other substances.

As for Gandas, his actions have led him down a path of destruction and chaos, resulting in a lengthy prison sentence and a lifetime ban from driving. It is hoped that he will learn from his mistakes and make amends during his time behind bars.
