In an unexpected twist of feline behaviour, a cat in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, has stolen the internet's attention not for being a fierce predator, but for acting more like a no-nonsense parent giving a lecture.

In a TikTok video posted by user @mimizaki99, the cat can be seen giving a rat a series of light but persistent slaps, almost as if it were scolding the rodent rather than attacking it. The clip, which has since gone viral, sparked a wave of amusement and confusion among netizens.

According to WeirdKaya, the original poster (OP) clarified what really happened. The incident occurred on July 11 at their shop in Kota Bharu. Contrary to what some viewers assumed, the rat wasn't caught in the shop. Instead, the cat had captured it elsewhere and brought it all the way back alive.

"It was like she wanted to show me the gift she brought back," said the OP. "But to my surprise, it was still alive!"

Not wanting to risk the rat running loose and causing havoc, the OP used a broom to pin it down. That's when the cat, in full display of her 'disciplinary' instincts, sat in front of the pinned-down rodent and began giving it gentle but firm slaps with her paw.

The bizarre moment, equal parts funny and oddly heartwarming, has turned the feline into a local celebrity, with many joking that the cat must be a strict teacher or a mother in disguise.

Whether she was disappointed the rat wasn't grateful for being rescued or just wanted to teach it a lesson, one thing's for sure: this cat's parenting style is as unexpected as it is entertaining.
