A poignant tale has recently swept across social media, shining a spotlight on the challenging circumstances of an elderly woman who lives alone in a deteriorated seemingly abandoned area within the local community somewhere in Tawau, Sabah.
This emotionally charged narrative gained widespread attention when Hidaya, a compassionate individual, took to the popular platform TikTok to share a video featuring the elderly lady.
The video vividly depicts the distressing state of the house, with its dilapidated floors, absence of carpets, and a lack of furniture and essential amenities. Hidaya, who also works as an e-hailing driver, revealed that the elderly woman, affectionately known as "mak cik," relies on selling keropok (crackers) in town to make a living.
By chance, Hidaya crossed paths with the woman and offered her a ride home, unknowingly setting in motion a chain of events that would unveil the true story behind the elderly lady's plight.
"My heart was overwhelmed with sorrow upon meeting mak cik. Throughout the journey back, tears streamed down my face as it reminded me of my own mother who passed away last year.
"Upon arriving at her house, I assisted her inside. Despite her limited mobility, she still possesses the determination to sell keropok.
"Only Allah truly comprehends the depths of my emotions. It is profoundly heart-wrenching to witness a grandmother enduring such destitution. Allahu Akbar!" expressed Hidaya in the poignant caption accompanying the video.

As Hidaya stepped inside the woman's house, a deluge of thoughts engulfed her, exposing the harsh reality before her eyes. Her sadness deepened when the elderly woman shared her harrowing experience of being victimized due to her solitary and vulnerable living situation.
"I feel an immense burden leaving this grandmother to spend her nights alone. Take care of yourself, nek. InshaAllah, we will visit you daily to ensure you never feel lonely or abandoned," she added with sincerity.
Hidaya's poignant account deeply resonated with netizens, who applauded her compassionate efforts in aiding those less fortunate.
