A video recently went viral on TikTok after a tourist from Europe shared her unique and heartwarming experience at the Langkawi International Airport (LGK).

In the 45-second clip uploaded by @margitdob, AirAsia passengers were seen walking towards their aircraft in the midst of heavy rain. What stood out, however, was the thoughtful gesture by airport staff, who provided umbrellas to every passenger needing to walk through the open area leading to the aircraft stairs.
According to the tourist, such an initiative is rarely, if ever, seen at airports in Europe.
"We all got umbrellas; no one cares about passengers like that in Europe. I will miss you, Malaysia," she wrote, expressing her appreciation for the unexpected hospitality.
The video also showed Ground Team Red (GTR) staff holding umbrellas for passengers as they climbed the stairs, ensuring they remained dry and safe. The effort reflected the team's strong commitment to passenger comfort and safety, even in challenging weather conditions.
Many Malaysians who commented on the video mentioned that this level of service has long been a standard practice at Malaysian airports. While it may seem ordinary to locals, it left a lasting impression on the European traveller and many others who watched the clip.
The simple yet meaningful initiative once again highlights the warmth, attentiveness, and hospitality that Malaysian airports are known for, qualities that continue to capture the attention and admiration of international visitors.
