While most service providers would charge a fee for their work, a locksmith in Perlis has caught the public's attention for doing the opposite. Amir Firdaus, the owner of Dr Key n Shoe, went viral for his kind gesture of unlocking a car door without asking for any payment.
The heartwarming story was first shared by the founder of Misi, Nur Ahmad Faiz Mohd Azmi, who happened to be in Indera Kayangan, Perlis, when he faced the issue. In a video posted on the Instagram account @foundermisi, Nur Ahmad revealed that Amir had come to help unlock his Toyota Hilux Motorhome, which had been accidentally locked.
What touched many was Amir's response when asked about the service charge; he simply refused to accept any payment. Using his tools and locksmithing expertise, he managed to unlock the vehicle with ease but insisted it was just a "rescue" effort rather than a job that needed to be paid for.
"I don't charge for rescue jobs like unlocking a car. I only take payment for making duplicate keys," said Amir, explaining his approach to such situations.
He also mentioned that he enjoys helping people while taking in the calming view of the nearby paddy fields, a form of "healing" for him as he goes about his work.
Despite his refusal to take payment, Nur Ahmad still gave him RM300 as a token of appreciation for his help.
In the comments section of the post, social media users flooded in with praise for Amir's sincerity and selflessness. Many admired his willingness to help without expecting anything in return and prayed that his kindness would be repaid with ease in life and abundant blessings.
Amir's story serves as a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can go a long way, and sometimes, doing good is its own reward.
