A couple in Penang recently caught everyone's attention when they decided to take an unusual approach to deal with their son's excessive phone use by calling the police for help!
In a video uploaded by Penang Kini, the parents were seen stopping their car by the roadside to speak to two policemen on duty. But instead of reporting an emergency, they made a rather surprising request: they wanted the officers to advise their son to spend less time on his phone.
"Usually, it's the police who tell people to pull over, but this time, it was the parents who did it first," joked the page's caption.
The father explained that his son had always dreamed of becoming a police officer one day. However, lately, his obsession with his mobile phone had gotten out of hand.
Hearing this, one of the policemen leaned in and asked the boy if he didnt like studying. Before the child could respond, his father quickly said with a smile, "He's actually a good student, just too hooked on his phone."
The boy, looking startled and teary-eyed, sat quietly in the car as the officer spoke to him calmly, advising him to listen to his parents and apologise.
The wholesome yet hilarious encounter quickly went viral, with many netizens praising the parents' creativity. Some even joked that the boy probably won't be scrolling on his phone for a while after that "official warning!"
