A lighthearted misunderstanding between a teacher and his students has gone viral on TikTok, all thanks to a small musical instrument that looks a little too much like a vape device.
In a video shared by music teacher Cikgu Khairul on his TikTok account (@khairulandryan), his students were seen calling him out for what they believed was a case of hypocrisy.

"Teacher said we can't smoke, but teacher smokes, exclaimed one of the children in class."
Looking both surprised and confused, Cikgu Khairul was quick to clarify the situation, especially since he wasn't holding or even near a cigarette at the time. The students had actually mistaken a device hanging from his neck for a vape due to its colorful design and compact size.
Upon realizing the mix-up, the amused teacher explained that the object in question wasn't a vape at all, it was a kazoo, a musical instrument that you play by blowing into it.
To make the moment even more fun and educational, Cikgu Khairul challenged his students to guess the name of the instrument. He offered a prize of 2,000 Robux, the virtual currency used in the popular online game Roblox, worth nearly RM100, for the correct answer.
"This is a musical instrument. Whoever knows the name of this instrument, I'll give them 2,000 Robux," he announced, prompting squeals of excitement from the students.
He then dropped a few clues, telling them the first letter was "K" and the last was "O." Eventually, the answer was revealed; the instrument was a kazoo.
To top it off, Cikgu Khairul played the song Aspalela, a popular tune among Malaysian students, on both the guitar and kazoo, giving his students a proper demonstration of how the misunderstood instrument actually works.
The wholesome video has since racked up over 1 million views and nearly 76.1k likes, with viewers praising the teacher's creative approach to clearing up the confusion.
Some users even jokingly tried to guess the instrument themselves in hopes of scoring the Robux reward. One commenter applauded the student who had the presence of mind to remind the teacher not to smoke, calling it a sign of awareness among the younger generation.
What began as a simple misunderstanding turned into an engaging music lesson and a reminder that kids are always watching (and questioning) what adults do!
