A Singaporean man's love for durian recently went viral after he revealed that he changed his entire travel route just because he caught a whiff of the pungent fruit coming from a passing vehicle.
The amusing incident was shared through a video on TikTok by user @muyusoff. In the video, the man explained that he was riding his motorcycle home when he suddenly picked up a strong durian scent in the air. Upon closer inspection, he realised the aroma was coming from a pickup truck driving ahead of him.

According to him, the truck was transporting durians from Malaysia. Confident in the fruit's freshness just by its smell, the man decided to tail the vehicle in hopes of locating its final destination.
"I could tell the durians were fresh just by the aroma from outside," he claimed.
True enough, the truck led him to a fruit store. Upon arriving, he immediately inspected the back of the truck and found it loaded with durians. Eager to get his hands on some, he walked into the store and asked the seller when the new stock would be available. Unfortunately, he was told to return after 3 PM.
But his craving couldn't wait.
Despite being advised to come back later, he purchased the durians already on display and happily brought them home to enjoy with his sibling.
"I don't know if they're new durians or not, but they're good enough. Alhamdulillah," he said in the video.
The clip quickly gained attention, with many netizens expressing their amusement at the man's determination. Some even jokingly called it a "noble sacrifice" for durian lovers everywhere.
Others praised his attitude, noting how he wasn't overly concerned about the durian's quality and was simply grateful to be able to enjoy it with his loved ones.
For many Malaysians and Singaporeans, this story was a relatable testament to the irresistible pull of a good durian and the lengths some would go to chase that perfect bite.
