Affordable EV for everyone!

To ensure that EV use is affordable for lower income groups, the government aims to introduce EVs with selling prices below RM100,000. According to the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, "The government is investigating ways to introduce EVs that are more reasonably priced.

"If we can install EVs in Malaysia, it might assist us to provide EV automobiles at a reduced price."

The minister stated that the goal is to make it possible for those of moderate income to also contribute to the aim of reducing carbon dioxide in the usage of vehicles.

In the past, the government has provided incentives in the form of direct and indirect tax deductions for EV vehicle assembly or manufacturing activities, component manufacture, and ecosystem development, such as the construction of charging stations.
