Greta Gerwig's Barbie hit the cinemas 20 July 2023 and before even a week, it has reached blockbuster records we never knew possible.

Bringing in $155 million, the movie has surpassed every other movie from the year thus far!

#2 Biggest opening ever for a female director

Miss Ma'am Greta Gerwig has brought her A game and she's not here to mess around. 

#3 Biggest opening for a movie based on a toy

The movie is based on a doll which was first created in 1959. Meaning to say 64 years later, Mattel's still winning!

#4 Biggest opening ever for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling

Robbie and Gosling have done other big movies separately, Bird's of Prey, Suicide Squad, La La Land, The Notebook, but this opening was the biggest for both. 

#5 Biggest opening weekend for a movie that isn't a sequel, remake or superhero movie

Shocking, but true. It's a movie about a doll.
