An elderly mother and her son have been discovered residing in a neglected flat in Flat Taman Silibin, Ipoh, surrounded by filth and accumulated garbage for more than seven years. The challenging circumstances are exacerbated by the mother's frail condition and the son's decision to leave his job in order to provide care for his ailing mother.

Over the course of a challenging seven-year period, Erwan Dahari, aged 46, has made the difficult decision to forego his employment to attend to the needs of his frail 77-year-old mother. Erwan, who is currently receiving treatment for stress or mental pressure in Tanjung Rambutan, is classified as a person with mental disabilities (OKU).

The family's sole reliance on the monthly assistance of RM300 from Baitulmal has proven insufficient, given their monthly rent of RM250. Despite occasional support from nearby neighbors and Erwan's siblings, who assist in cleaning the house, financial constraints persist.

A glimpse inside their home reveals dire conditions, particularly for Miram Kadir, who lacks basic amenities like a mattress, pillow, and blanket. Rainwater penetration through dilapidated windows and ceilings exacerbates their already challenging circumstances.

Erwan shared during an interview that the RM300 assistance covers rent, electricity, and water, leaving little for meals. The toilet is clogged, water spills inside, and garbage disposal is challenging, especially given Erwan's mental health condition and his responsibilities in caring for his mother.

Erwan, with heartfelt sincerity, pleads for a better dwelling for both himself and his mother. Unemployment and health issues make it challenging for him to secure alternative accommodation, forcing them to endure these dire circumstances.

Wan Noorashikin Noran, Chairman of Pertubuhan Puteri Kebajikan Negeri Perak, visited the scene to deliver assistance and expressed shock at the conditions inside the house. She pledged to provide food and clothing for Miram Kadir and sought additional assistance from the local State Assembly Member (ADUN).
