A syarie lawyer has recently clarified a commonly asked question: who gets to keep the plates, furniture, and other household items after a divorce?
In a video shared on TikTok by @nuaimrazak, the lawyer explained that any property purchased before marriage cannot be considered as jointly acquired, unless it was improved or developed during the marriage period.
"For instance, if the wife bought a set of tableware, furniture, a TV, or a refrigerator during the marriage, and after the divorce the husband takes off with them or refuses to return them, the wife has the right to include those items in a claim for jointly acquired property," he said.
The explanation has sparked interest online, especially among those looking for clarity on marital property rights under Islamic family law.
