What started as a case of suspected burglary in a quiet neighbourhood turned into an unexpectedly funny twist, and the culprits were far from human.
The incident, shared by Threads user Azrai Fahmi, began when a resident spotted what looked like signs of a break-in. A photo sent to the neighbourhood WhatsApp group showed a driveway in disarray, complete with a fallen shelf. Concerned that the homeowner might be away, the vigilant neighbour quickly raised the alarm and even asked the community's security guard to inspect the property.
But when the truth came out, it left everyone laughing. The "intruders" responsible for the mess weren't thieves, but a pair of adventurous tortoises belonging to the household.
In their slow yet surprisingly destructive wanderings, the reptiles had managed to topple items in the driveway, leaving behind a scene that could easily have been mistaken for human mischief.
Azrai praised the neighbour's alertness and the community's quick action in responding to what could have been a worrying situation.
"This is community care in action! Well done, everyone!" he wrote.
The post sparked lighthearted reactions among Malaysians online. Many were amused that such gentle-looking creatures could stir up so much chaos, while others couldn't get over the idea of tortoises being mistaken for burglars.
