If you've been hair oiling and the effects are not as great as what socials are saying, then this may be the problem: you're using the wrong type of hair oil for your type of hair.
What can hair oil do for you actually?
Hair oiling can moisturize and strengthen hair, but it can also improve shine, and reduce frizz by locking in all that hydration your hair needs.
How often should you do it?
If you have dry or curly hair, then 2-3 times a week and if you have normal hair, then every 10-14 days.
What types of hair oil works best for which type of hair?
Fine or thin hair (straight or slightly wavy) - Grapeseed oil and Jojoba oil
Normal to medium hair (wavy) - Argan oil and avocado oil
Curly, coily, thick coarse of very textured hair - Coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil
Oily scalp or dandruff heads - Jojoba oil, tea tree oil, sesame oil
Some extra reminders
Your hair porosity matters, so if its high, then you may need heavier oils to lock in moisture. Should it be low, then lighter oils are better to avoid buildup.
Besides that, in hot and humid weathers, too much oil can make your hair feel greasy fast.
Do also take note that some oils work pre-wash, while others work better as leave-in or as finishing oils. Heavier oils should be washed out.
Try these different methods and oils to what works best for your scalp and hair type--you may then see some better results!
