"So Ridiculous!" Hospital Patient Had To Order Panadol From Foodpanda After He Allegedly Had To Wait Almost 2 Hours For Painkillers

A recent incident at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) in Singapore raised concerns as a patient allegedly endured a nearly two-hour wait for painkillers. In an unexpected turn of events, the patient took matters into his own hands and placed an order for Panadol through the Foodpanda app, receiving it before the hospital-provided painkillers.

The incident came to light when Mr. Hamid Osman, also known as @jombadok on TikTok, shared his experience at SKH in a video posted on the platform. In the video, Mr. Hamid revealed that he had requested painkillers but had not received them even after a prolonged two-hour wait. Frustrated by the delay, he opted to order Panadol via the foodpanda app.

In the video, it was shown that the Panadol he had ordered arrived before the hospital's painkillers. Expressing his disbelief, Mr. Hamid couldn't help but comment on the irony, stating, "Can you imagine or not? Asking for Panadol, and you cannot get a Panadol from a first-world hospital. Sengkang General Hospital. It's really ridiculous."

Mr. Hamid received the Panadol from a Foodpanda rider at what appeared to be the hospital lobby. The foodpanda rider, was equally astounded by the situation, after learning about it from Mr. Hamid.

After obtaining his medication, Mr. Hamid expressed his frustration, describing the situation as "bloody ridiculous." He also shared his intention to ignore medical advice and recover at home, where he already had painkillers.

In response to Mr. Hamid's TikTok video, Sengkang General Hospital issued a statement on Facebook, extending an apology for his uncomfortable experience. The hospital reassured the public that Mr. Hamid's care team had delivered "appropriate care" during his hospital stay.

In the Facebook post, SKH took the opportunity to clarify that medications prescribed for newly admitted patients are subject to doctor approval to ensure safety and proper record-keeping. Additionally, they provided an explanation that individuals with "less severe conditions" may encounter extended waiting periods compared to those facing more critical and urgent medical situations.
