A dramatic incident unfolded on the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Highway yesterday when a lorry, engulfed in flames, continued moving without a driver and careened off the road.

According to Sepang deputy police chief Shan Gopal Krishnan, the driver, a man in his 70s, was traveling from Dengkil to Puchong around 6:30 PM when he noticed smoke coming from the engine. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the flames quickly spread, forcing the driver to make a life-saving decision.

"The driver jumped out of the moving lorry after noticing the rapid spread of the fire," Shan stated. The lorry, now driverless, continued its journey along Km38 of the highway, veering off from the right lane into an exit.

A video capturing the fiery scene has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread reactions from viewers. The footage shows the burning lorry hurtling down the road, leaving a trail of flames and smoke before coming to a halt.

"The complainant escaped with minor injuries, but the lorry was completely destroyed by the fire," Shan added.

Following the incident, the driver informed the lorry's owner and filed a police report. Interestingly, the owner has decided not to pursue an insurance claim, citing the belief that the compensation amount would be negligible.
