A recent video posted on TikTok by user @bateriku.com_ttdi has gone viral, drawing attention to a concerning issue affecting commuters at the LRT Glenmarie station. In the video, a man warns both male and female LRT users to be cautious when parking their vehicles near the station due to a rise in car battery thefts.
#baterikudotcom #baterikerete #tukarbaterikerete #baterikuttdijaya #baterikushahalam #lrtglenmarie original sound - baterikuttdishahalam
The video shows numerous cars parked outside the designated LRT area, which the man claims is due to the stations extremely limited parking availability. With few official parking spots available, many drivers have been forced to leave their vehicles in unsupervised areas nearby.
Unfortunately, this has made those cars vulnerable to theft. According to the man, multiple cases of car battery theft have been reported at the location. While pointing to a car in the video, he revealed that its battery had been stolen for the second time by irresponsible individuals.
He explained that stolen car batteries can be resold for RM20 to RM30 each, making them a common target for petty criminals.
"If possible, don't park up here [referring to the hill area]. There really isn't much parking available, but if you can, try to find another spot. There have been many cases of batteries going missing," he advised.
The man also expressed hope that the Local Authorities (PBT) and the LRT management would step in to find solutions to address this growing problem, such as increasing surveillance or expanding secure parking options.
The video has sparked concern among regular commuters, with several commenters sharing that they now feel anxious about leaving their cars there. However, others have pushed back against claims that LRT users were purposely avoiding paid parking services, suggesting instead that the issue stems from a lack of space rather than reluctance to pay.
As the conversation continues online, many are urging relevant authorities to take proactive steps to ensure the safety and security of commuters' vehicles in the Glenmarie area.
