Just recently, a heartwarming post went viral on TikTok (@tajaott) when a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam student, known as Jaie, shared a touching moment of him preparing meals for his roommates, all by himself.
What made his gesture extra special was the effort he put into it. Instead of taking the easy route, Jaie started his day by heading to a durian orchard to collect fresh fruits under the scorching sun. After gathering the durians, he packed them neatly into containers to bring back for his friends.
"Roommates love eating durian, apparently," Jaie wrote in the video caption.
But he didn't stop there. In addition to the fruits, Jaie decided to cook a proper meal for his friends. From buying ingredients at the market to prepping, sautéing, and cooking, he did it all single-handedly. He whipped up a delicious chicken rendang and even cleaned the kitchen after he was done.
To top it off, Jaie packed a special dish prepared by his mother, sambal tempoyak daun kayu, a traditional delicacy that added a homely touch to the meal.
Despite having to carry a large container during his train ride back to campus, Jaie remained enthusiastic about sharing his food with his roommates. Upon arriving, he immediately served the dishes to his friends, who eagerly dug in. Some were even seen polishing off their plates, clearly enjoying the meal made with love and effort.
