For many young footballers, reaching the FIFA World Cup is a dream that takes years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination. For 18-year-old Hamza Abdelkarim, that dream has already become a reality.

The Egyptian youngster is one of the youngest players competing at the FIFA World Cup 2026, but what makes his story even more remarkable is that part of his football journey began right here in Kuala Lumpur.

Who Is Hamza Abdelkarim?

Hamza Abdelkarim is an 18-year-old Egyptian footballer who has rapidly emerged as one of his country's most exciting young talents.

While many players his age are still trying to establish themselves in youth football, Hamza has already earned a place on football's biggest stage. His rise to the FIFA World Cup is the result of years of dedication, talent, and development across multiple countries.

A Star In The Making

Before earning a place in Egypt's World Cup squad, Hamza developed through the youth ranks of Al Ahly, one of Africa's most successful and decorated football clubs.

His performances at youth level quickly attracted attention and opened opportunities beyond Egypt. As his reputation continued to grow, he took another major step in his career by moving to Europe to continue his development.

Today, Hamza represents Egypt on the international stage and is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Egyptian football.

The Kuala Lumpur Connection

Long before wearing Egypt's national colours at the World Cup, Hamza spent some of his formative years training in Kuala Lumpur.

Between 2016 and 2020, he trained under Malaysian youth coach Chris Nathan through the Little League Soccer programme. These years played an important role in shaping his technical ability, discipline, and understanding of the game.

Fast forward to 2026, and the young footballer who once trained on Malaysian pitches is now competing against the world's best players at the FIFA World Cup.
