Disney confirms that works are underway for a new Disney princess musical plucked from the pages of Indian history.

The project would reportedly be crafted as a unique musical feature with director Gurinder Chadha and screenwriter Paul Mayeda Berges, both of whom gained fame for the sports comedy-drama film Bend It Like Beckham. Lindy Goldstein and Jessica Virtue, Disney's VP of production, will also produce the live-action title.

"Together all of us are really shaping this story which, I hope once weve got to a good stage, were ready to share.", Chadha stated.
