What better way to end 2025 than by celebrating the everyday heroes who keep families and communities moving?
Grab Malaysia, in collaboration with MONSTA and Astro Shaw, held a special family screening of the No.1 box-office hit Papa Zola The Movie to honour more than 100 of its dedicated driver- and delivery-partners.
Families of the driver- and delivery-partners gathered at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), One Utama, Petaling Jaya, for a celebratory screening that allowed them to spend meaningful time together.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Papa Zola mascot made a special appearance during the photo session, holdinga Grab jacket and mingling with guests, while driver- and delivery-partners attended the screening in their Grab uniforms. Guests also received exclusive Papa Zola The Movie souvenirs as a token of appreciation.
The screening served as a tribute to Grab’s driver- and delivery-partners, whose dedication and sacrifices continue to form the backbone of the platform’s services, enabling them to support their families day in and day out.
Echoing the film’s central theme, Papa Zola The Movie tells the story of Papa Zola, a devoted father who works as a food delivery rider to provide for his wife and child. The narrative reflects the everyday realities of many delivery partners, portraying Papa Zola as a symbol of perseverance in the face of daily challenges within the on-demand delivery industry.
“At Grab Malaysia, our driver- and delivery-partners are the heart of our platform,” said Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations & Mobility, Grab Malaysia. “This special screening is our way of recognising their dedication, hard work and the vital role they play in supporting their families. In line with the message of Papa Zola The Movie, we hope this initiative allows them to spend meaningful time with their loved ones and create lasting family memories.”
Nizam Abd Razak, Director and Writer of Papa Zola The Movie and Chief Executive Officer of MONSTA, shared, “This film is rooted in the realities of today’s world, reflecting parents who shoulder responsibilities together for the sake of their families. In an increasingly challenging environment, including the gig economy where many earn a living through food delivery, this story mirrors what we see every day. Papa Zola The Movie is a tribute to the silent fighters who persevere with strength and determination for their loved ones.”
Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, Executive Producer of Papa Zola The Movie and Head of Astro Shaw, added, “Astro Shaw is truly honoured to collaborate with Grab Malaysia in creating this meaningful experience for the driver- and delivery-partners and their families. The film reflects the values of sacrifice, love and resilience embodied by everyday family heroes. This special screening is our way of showing appreciation for their unwavering dedication, and we hope it creates cherished memories for them and their loved ones.”
As part of the broader campaign supporting the local animation industry, Grab also featured the Papa Zola character within the Grab app and across digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising, further strengthening engagement while celebrating the driver- and delivery-partner community.
Papa Zola The Movie follows Papa Zola, a devoted father striving to provide for his family, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he reunites with an old friend from a secret organisation known as P.A.P.A (Protect and Prevent Agency). When his child, Pipi, is abducted by aliens, Papa Zola and Mama Zila must race against time to rescue their child and protect the world from looming threats.
