While heading out to pick up a passenger, TikTok user and Grab driver Santy (@santy_meng86) spotted an elderly woman struggling by the roadside. The woman was walking slowly, carrying heavy bags in both hands, and visibly in discomfort.

Though Santy initially passed her by, she couldn't shake the feeling that she should stop and help. Realising the woman might not make it home safely, she made the decision to call her passenger and explain the situation. Thankfully, the passenger was understanding and agreed to wait.

Santy quickly turned around and picked up the elderly woman. It took some time for the woman to get into the car, as her feet were sore and she was exhausted. The drive to her home revealed just how far the woman still had to go, roughly 500 metres, a challenging distance for someone her age and in her condition.

When they arrived, Santy didn't stop there. She carried the woman's bags into the house and learned that the woman lived alone, with no children or family to care for her. The encounter struck a chord with Santy, who said the woman reminded her of her own mother. She promised to return and visit her again.

Keeping her word, Santy later brought the elderly woman out for a day trip around Melaka. During her visits, she noticed the woman needed help around the house and took to social media to ask her followers if anyone could lend a hand.

The response was overwhelming. Volunteers offered their time and effort, trimming overgrown weeds, repairing faulty lights, and donating or buying household essentials. All of it came at no cost.
