A woman lost her life after the car she was driving was struck by a lorry in a multi-vehicle collision on the elevated Lido Road along Jalan Lintas, Kota Kinabalu.

The incident occurred around 6 PM, and the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Nicolette Hannah George. She was driving a Perodua Bezza and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The District Police Chief of Kota Kinabalu, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, reported that initial investigations revealed a collision involving seven vehicles. He stated that the vehicles involved included two lorries and five other cars, namely a Perodua Bezza, Myvi, Toyota Vios, Proton Saga, and Iriz.

"It is believed that the accident occurred when a lorry collided with a vehicle in front of it, causing the rearmost vehicle to be trapped underneath the lorry," explained Mohd Zaidi.

"As a result of the incident, the driver of the Perodua Bezza was trapped and tragically pronounced dead at the scene," he added, while speaking at the accident site.

Mohd Zaidi mentioned that they have not yet received reports regarding injuries or conditions of other individuals involved in the accident. "The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, and the victim's body has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for post-mortem examination."

He concluded, "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987."
