The footage, captured by a cabin camera inside a sedan believed to be used for e-hailing services, shows the driver waiting patiently as passengers board his vehicle one after another. However, as soon as everyone had entered, the driver began to count the number of people and quickly realized that the total had exceeded the car's seating capacity.
Using a five-seater sedan, the driver calmly questioned one of the passengers about the actual headcount. Upon confirming that there was one extra individual, he politely but firmly explained that he could not proceed with the ride due to safety and legal concerns.
Even when told that the additional passenger was just a small child, the driver stood his ground, emphasising that the matter wasn't simply about flexibility or tolerance, it was about the law and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
Eventually, the group of passengers complied and exited the vehicle without any incident.
The video sparked widespread support from netizens in the comments section, with many praising the driver's actions as professional and responsible. Some pointed out that such matters shouldn't be taken lightly, as carrying more passengers than allowed could lead to severe consequences in the event of an accident.
The account owner further clarified that vehicles like sedans are typically only insured for five people, including the driver. If an accident were to occur and the number of passengers exceeded this limit, the insurance provider might reject any claims made.
This incident serves as a timely reminder about the importance of adhering to vehicle safety limits and the responsibility that comes with being behind the wheel, especially for those providing public transport services.
