A video recently went viral on Twitter about the Dalai Lama, and netizens have been calling him out for paedophilia. 

Based on reports and the footage, the Dalai Lama greeted a young boy on stage, and after giving him a hug, he held his chin and gave him a kiss on the lips. 

It then gets worse, when he sticks out his tongue and asks the boy to suck on it. 

The Dalai Lama has since apologized for what went down. 

"His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras", the statement said.

Some of his supporters have come out to say that it's part of Tibetan culture and tradition, while vast others deem it abuse in every sense. 

Sticking out ones tongue is a sign of respect or agreement and was often used as a greeting in traditional Tibetan culture, according to the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

Besides this, the Dalai Lama has also been in multiple controversies in the past, from saying his successor should be a woman who is 'more attractive' to suggesting that Europe should only be kept to the Europeans and not be home to African refugees.
