France converts fresh food market into morgue while it continues to operate

06-Apr-2020
By Huan Lui

The hall of world's largest wholesale food market, Rungis International Market, has been requisitioned by the police in Paris to keep the bodies of COVID-19 victims as funeral homes are overwhelmed.

It is reported that the temporary morgue, which is a cold storage room, is located at a corner, and will be isolated from other sections of the vast market. The coffins that are stored here will be taken to cemeteries or crematoriums.

However, the market will continue to deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to people in the Paris area.
