According to the Labuhan Batu of North Sumatera district police chief Anhar Arlia Rangkuti, the 59-year-old husband committed the crime out of jealousy.
"His wife would often refuse the husband's invitation to have intimate relations. They would also quarrel often due to domestic problems,” he added.
The murder took place last Tuesday around 7 AM (local time) when the couple was tapping rubber on a farm. The husband reportedly slit the victim's neck and hands using a machete. He then threw the murder weapon into a ravine near the crime scene before fleeing.
The victim's body was discovered hours later on the same day.
