From school exams to national rankings, Malaysians have long embraced the pressure to perform, and its paying off. According to the 2025 International IQ Test results, Malaysia ranks 22nd globally with an average IQ of 100.48, based on data from over 19,000 participants.
This puts Malaysia ahead of many developed nations and third in Southeast Asia, behind Singapore (5th) and Thailand (15th). On a continental level, were 10th in Asia.
Meanwhile, countries like Indonesia lag behind, ranking 98th with an average IQ of 93.18. The global average IQ is 100, largely boosted by Chinas high score of 107.19 and its massive population.
Malaysia's ranking highlights a growing reputation for intellectual capability, both in the classroom and beyond.
