MrBeast has been planning an IRL Hunger Games video for a while now, challenging him to work through the staggering logistics of creating a real competition without it being a danger to competitors.
The YouTuber has already put people through the ringer while placing millions of dollars on the line. He always seems to have someone trapped in a room somewhere grinding away at some months-long challenge to earn a huge amount of money.
This got taken to the next level with Beast Games, a show that absolutely demolished Amazon Prime viewership records while it was airing and had over a thousand contestants competing against each other.
However, his next idea is taking after one of the most brutal forms of competition: A battle royale emulating The Hunger Games.
MrBeast is planning a real-life Hunger Games with a twist
For those unfamiliar with the original novels or films, the core concept of The Hunger Games is that the United States has been divided into 12 districts following a semi-apocalyptic civil war. Each district must send a young boy and girl to fight to death in an arena. Theyre dropped into the wilds with equipment scattered around and are tasked with doing whatever it takes to survive.
It only ends when one tribute remains.
So, MrBeast wants to take that core concept (minus the part where contestants have to literally kill each other) and turn it into a video
"I've been sitting on this idea where it'd be fun to grab potentially 26 random people, put them on an island, and - not use real weapons, maybe like laser tag or something - and then the last remaining one wins a million a dollars to recreate Hunger Games in real life. I think that'd absolutely crush."
Considering the sheer scale of the Beast Games, this idea wouldn't actually be the craziest thing he's ever done if he finds a way to make "combat" engaging enough. Reality shows like Survivor also take advantage of this setting and premise without forcing people into combat, and the competition going for days on end could bring in a variety of other factors like finding clean water and food into the equation.
MrBeast didn't make any promises during his interview with The Today Show, but an IRL Hunger Games seems to be in his wheelhouse. Or, worst case scenario, he can just make it an episode of his animated TV show instead.
