In a horrifying turn of events, a man lost his life in Hoang Mai near Hanoi, Vietnam, after being set on fire by the husband of a woman he was reportedly having an affair with. The incident occurred on February 22, and the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, tragically passed away five days later from the severe burns he sustained.
According to reports from international media outlets, the motive behind the attack is believed to be jealousy. The perpetrator, identified as Hoan, allegedly confronted the victim and his wife as they were walking towards a motel in Linh Duong. Following a heated exchange, the victim fled the scene, prompting Hoan to retaliate in a fit of rage.
Fuelled by anger, the 65-year-old suspect acquired petrol with the intent of seeking revenge. Later that evening, he found the victim at a local bar and proceeded to douse him with petrol before setting him ablaze. The entire gruesome incident was captured by closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at the premises, showcasing the victim engulfed in flames as the fire spread to parts of the establishment.
Despite valiant efforts by bystanders to extinguish the flames and render aid, the victim's injuries were too severe. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals determined that he had suffered burns on 98% of his body. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries, marking a grim end to the violent confrontation driven by jealousy and rage.
Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, with Hoan facing potential charges for his role in the fatal attack. The community is left shocked and saddened by the senseless loss of life, highlighting the devastating consequences of unchecked jealousy and violence.
