A 43-year-old man in Kuching, suspected of killing a cat by hanging it to death, was arrested at Batu Kawa Police Station.
Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan confirmed the animal cruelty case during an interview with the media.
It is understood that on May 6, a 56-year-old woman recorded a video of a dead cat hanging on the fence of her neighbor. She reported the case to the police and claimed her neighbor killed the cat.
The suspect, however, denied the accusation. He said that the trap made with nylon rope on the gate was meant to prevent the same cat from entering his house again as it often left stools in the house and scratch marks on his car. He did not expect the cat would die of that.
The nylon rope has already been thrown away along with the cat’s body.

This kind of news always angers us. There are always different approaches one can take to prevent a cat from entering his house. If only the man had tried another way, the cat would not lose its life so easily. Hopefully this is a lesson learnt for all of us.
