When it comes to durian, Malaysians will always find a way – even halfway across the world.
A Malaysian family living in Paris recently decided to indulge in some Musang King, craving a taste of home. But as soon as they cracked open the "king of fruits," the familiar pungent aroma filled the air... and triggered a very unfamiliar response from their French neighbours.
Thinking there was a gas leak, neighbours quickly alerted the authorities – and before the family knew it, firefighters were at the door ready to handle an emergency.
Thankfully, no one was hurt – except maybe a few noses – and the family got to keep their durian (after a lot of explaining, we imagine).
It's a story that proves one thing: you can take Malaysians out of Malaysia, but you cant take the durian out of Malaysians.
