A woman took to socials how she bought a couch from IKEA and got a free gift with it… bed bugs!
Based on her post, she bought a new sofa set on 18 November, and soon discovered that it was infested with the pesky pests.
She then complained to IKEA and they began investigating the matter. In the meantime, she had the exterminator come and clean it twice, before the company finally got back to her yesterday (2 Dec), saying they’d send an exterminator of their own in 2 days time (4 Dec).
The OP claimed that she hadn’t lived in the house up until recently, and the only trip she took was about less than a week ago. Based on the timeline, the exterminator she hired noted that, it was too short a time between the trip and the infestation to be connected.
She said that the bugs have been isolated to the couch (thankfully), and shortly after the extermination, the bugs showed back up on the couch.
She also mentions in the post that the couch she got was her dream couch, and she’s not even finished paying it yet. When reaching out to customer service, IKEA simply responds with ‘we’re investigating’.
