Another tragedy caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. A nurse in the Philippines killed all three of her children after she thought she was infected by the coronavirus.

The 28-year-old suspect, Joan Magistrado, was allegedly suffering from post-partum depression. Believed that she had the coronavirus, Magistrado took a bolo and killed her young daughters on May 20. Police identified the victims as Mitzuki, 5, Zuyen, 1 year and 8 months old, and Zoe, a four-month old baby.

After killing her daughters, Magistrado tried to commit suicide by stabbing herself.

The suspect and victims were rushed to a hospital immediately. Magistrado survived and is now receiving medical treatment, while her three daughters were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

This is not the first — and may not be the last —time we hear of murder or suicide due to the pandemic. However, even if life is really difficult right now, we should always hope for a better tomorrow. And finally, pay more attention to your loved ones especially during this pandemic. Remember to be there to help if you sense something’s not right.
