A family is appealing to the public to help identify a woman who saved a 55-year-old man's life after he collapsed at the Kuching International Airport on April 30.

The man, Mr Law from Sibu, had just arrived in Kuching when he suddenly collapsed at the domestic arrival hall. In a stroke of luck, a woman standing nearby sprang into action and immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.

Without any assistance, she administered CPR continuously for about 30 minutes and delivered two shocks using an automated external defibrillator (AED), helping to stabilise his condition before medical personnel arrived.

Law was later transported by ambulance to the emergency department of Sarawak General Hospital. A CT scan ruled out any brain haemorrhage, but doctors discovered that he had suffered a near-fatal cardiac event. According to cardiologist Dr Tang Sie Hing post on Facebook, a coronary angiogram revealed two completely blocked vessels. Law was promptly treated with an emergency coronary angioplasty, which successfully stabilised his heart.

Dr Tang confirmed that Law regained full consciousness without any neurological damage. "Her actions were critical in saving his life. By using the AED, she managed to convert a pulseless ventricular fibrillation to atrial fibrillation, buying him precious time," he said.

Law's family is now hoping to find the woman to express their heartfelt gratitude. They described her quick intervention as the difference between life and death. Anyone who recognises the woman is urged to contact Madam Ngu at 013-804 6882.

Law had reportedly been experiencing chest and stomach pains for three days following a recent trip to and from China. He underwent a medical scope in Sibu on April 29, but the pain worsened early the next morning. He decided to travel alone to Kuching, but collapsed shortly after landing.

Thanks to the swift response of a stranger, Law is alive and recovering and his family is hoping for the chance to say thank you in person.
