Technology in China never fails to amaze, and this time, it left a Malaysian traveller stunned and safely transported in a taxi with no driver behind the wheel.
Recently, a Malaysian woman named Ryanalysaaa, or Lysa as she's fondly known, visited Shenzhen, China, and experienced one of the country's most advanced transportation offerings: a fully autonomous, driverless taxi.

In a now-viral video, Lysa showed the moment a sleek Lexus SUV operating as a robotaxi arrived to pick her up. The futuristic cab, part of China's growing fleet of AI-powered vehicles, pulled up to the side of the road just like any regular taxi. However, while waiting for Lysa, the car was honked at by another driver, likely for blocking the way a reminder that even robot drivers have to deal with traffic drama.
Impressively, the taxi responded by repositioning itself to ease traffic flow all without a human hand on the wheel.
Once inside, Lysa selected her destination by pressing several numbers on a touchscreen, and the journey began. On the screen, passengers were reminded of essential safety rules like keeping their seatbelts on throughout the ride.
Shortly after, the steering wheel began to turn on its own, kicking off a smooth journey to her destination. Dashboard cameras and a live feed of the road ahead were displayed to reassure the passenger and provide real-time updates of the surroundings.
Lysa described the ride as not only super cool but also more affordable than a regular taxi. She even added that the vehicle was incredibly comfortable.
When the ride ended, the robotaxi patiently waited for her to exit before continuing its route to pick up the next passenger. Talk about efficiency!
"Robot taxis are only in Shenzhen, China," Lysa wrote in her caption, clearly still in awe of the experience.
But that wasn't the only futuristic tech she encountered. In another clip, Lysa shared a glimpse of a flying car developed in China a vehicle worth a whopping RM1.5 million. With a design that resembled a modernised helicopter, it looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.
In the comments, netizens were thrilled by Lysa's robotic ride. Some even asked if she planned to organise a group trip so others could try it too, while many were curious about how to book a ride in the driverless taxi themselves.
For those wondering, Lysa explained that its as easy as downloading the 'Ponyai' app and from there, you can book your very own ride into the future.
Would you dare get in a car with no driver?
